Xbox One X
Many were expecting the full reveal of Microsoft’s Project Scorpio, and now we have the name of their new console. Touting it as the most powerful console in the world, the Xbox One X will be released worldwide on November 7th 2017. It will cost $499, and features a 6 teraflop GPU, clocked at 1.72ghz, 12GB of GDDR5 memory, and 326GB/s of memory bandwidth. It also features true 4K, with over 8 million pixels, HDR, and 4K UHD blu-ray playback. Furthermore, all Xbox One accessories and games will work with the Xbox One X, with existing games looking even better on the console by using supersampling for 1080p. Microsoft say it is the smallest Xbox ever.
Anthem (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
BioWare’s new IP that was teased at the EA Play event was properly revealed with a gameplay trailer. It was announced that Anthem is an action-RPG in a shared world, where players can join their friends to play together. Using exosuits called Javelins, players will be able to traverse the massive open-world. Each Javelin comes with different abilities as well as weapons, and they can all be heavily customizable, so players can look and play how they wish. Anthem is coming in 2018.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Assassin’s Creed is back this year after a break, and we will; see the origins of the Assassin Brotherhood. In ancient Egypt, we will play as Bayek, and follow his story to see the creation of the Assassins. Featuring a new RPG system, Assassin’s Creed: Origins will allow players to use a variety of different weapons, with each having different characteristics. Both announcement and gameplay trailers were shown, with Assassin’s Creed: Origins launching on October 27th 2017.
Forza Motorsport 7 (Xbox One, Windows 10)
The racer returns with the seventh installment of the Motosport branch of Forza, and is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Forza Motorsport 7 will be playable at 4K and 60fps, as well as in HDR. Featuring races from Dubai to Germany, a dynamic weather system, customizable drivers, Forza Motorsport 7 is enhanced for Xbox One X, and launches October 3rd 2017.
Metro Exodus (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
After Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light comes Metro Exodus, inspired by the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky. In this world premiere trailer, we are presented with a dead Moscow, running from overgrown monsters keen to kill you. Armed with a shotgun running low on ammo, and a crossbow, we see the protagonist running for their life in this post-apocalyptic world. It will be released in 2018.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Shadow of War had another gameplay demo, where we saw some more of the nemesis system. Talion breaks a large orc called Burz, who then shows off his personality in a fun conversation. We then see how you can build your orc army and organize them before assaulting a fortress. Shadow of War launches on October 10 2017.
Crackdown 3 (Xbox One, Windows 10)
Terry Crews shouts that it’s time for us to join The Agency in Crackdown 3, and then we get some real gameplay. We can see that players will still collect orbs and be fighting gangs in the city, with an assortment of super powers. Crackdown 3 will launch on November 7th 2017, on Xbox One and Windows 10. It is also an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (Xbox One, PC)
A gameplay trailer for Xbox One was released for the popular battle royale game. Coming as an Xbox One console launch exclusive, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be enhanced for 4K, and is coming late 2017 as an Xbox One Console Launch Exclusive.
Deep Rock Galactic (Xbox One, PC)
Deep Rock Galactic is coming to the an Xbox One as a Console Launch Exclusive.e. It is a co-op FPS, set in space, where players mine procedurally generated cave systems to discover precious resources, and then fight to survive an onslaught of enemies.
State of Decay 2 (Xbox One, Windows 10)
This gameplay trailer reveals more about State of Decay 2, where players must fight together against the zombie hordes to survive. It is a Play Anywhere game with Xbox One and Windows 10, and will be Xbox One X Enhanced. It launches Spring 2018.
The Darwin Project (Xbox One, Windows 10)
Another Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive title, The Darwin Project is a reimagining of the battle royale genre. With Mixer integration, viewers will be able to interact with the game and their favorite players as they watch. It is set in a snowy arena, where players must fight to the death. It is coming soon.
Minecraft 4K - Better Together Update & Super Duper Graphics Pack (Xbox One, Windows 10)
Minecraft is getting an update that will bring 4K to the game, and unify the all the platforms, allowing players on mobile, Windows 10, console, and VR to all play together in cross-platform play. Other additions include the community marketplace and servers. As well as this, the Super Duper Graphics Pack was announced, which will launch this fall.
Dragon Ball FighterZ (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Coming in early 2018, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a new 2.5D fighting game featuring all your series favorites. 3 vs 3 fights were also confirmed in the trailer, however, not much more was said about the game.
Black Desert (Xbox One, PC)
The sandbox MMO, Black Desert is coming to Xbox One as a console launch exclusive in early 2018. The trailer shows some characters, as well as different parts of the game world and their diverse environments, such as a snowy forest and a rainy town. As well as this, some combat is also shown off.
The Last Night (Xbox One, Windows 10)
Another Xbox One Console Launch Exclusive, The Last Night is a beautiful pixel-art game, where players can explore a 2D, cyberpunk, open world. The trailer shows combat, and cinematic scenes from the game
The Artful Escape (Xbox One, Windows 10)
The Artful Escape reveal trailer shows a young man walking through a city before donning a colorful suit and running through a snowy landscape. A guitar appears and he begins to play as he travels through eccentric and varied worlds. It is an Xbox One Console Launch Exclusive, and according to the trailer, it is “coming when it’s damn ready.”
Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Xbox One, Windows 10)
The trailer for Ori and the Will of the Wisps takes us through the environment, and becomes increasingly sombre towards the end of the trailer. The music crescendos as lightning and thunder crashes, and a lone feather floats and falls into a puddle as an owl is comforted by Ori. They look on at the skeletons of other dead owls. It is an Xbox Play Anywhere Title.
Code Vein (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Not much is given away in the trailer for Code Vein, but we see several characters armed with large weapons, like swords and axes, fighting blood spewing demons. Code Vein will be released in 2018.
Sea of Thieves (Xbox One, Windows 10)
Sea of Thieves got an extended gameplay trailer, complete with humorous narration. We saw a lot of gameplay, from diving into shipwrecks to look for loot, to being fired from a cannon onto an island to search the caves for buried treasure. There was also a ship battle, and a look at some NPC enemies; skeletons crawling from the ground to protect their treasure. It is a Xbox Play Anywhere title, and is coming in early 2018.
Tacoma (Xbox One, Windows 10)
Tacoma was only teased, with a thirty second trailer, which shows off travel through a space station. It is an Xbox One Console Launch Exclusive, and will be released on August 2 2017.
Super Lucky’s Tale (Xbox One, Windows 10)
A platformer featuring a cute fox, Super Lucky’s Tale follows Lucky the fox on his adventures throughout a colorful world to rescue the Book of Ages. It is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, and launches November 7th 2017.
Cuphead (Xbox One, Windows 10)
Cuphead finally has a release date, and is now an Xbox Play Anywhere title, too. The trailer shows off some new gameplay from the long awaited title, and it will release September 29 2017 on Xbox One and Windows 10.
ID@Xbox featured a montage trailer of upcoming games, with some of them already covered in the press conference in their own right, such as Black Desert, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and The Last Night. Ashen is an Xbox One console launch exclusive. The trailer showed a dark world with two people struggling to survive, fighting off large monsters, spider-like beings, and other humans. Finally, they reach a large door, only to open it and discover a giant inside.
