Sea of Thieves, the pirate themed action-adventure game developed by Rare, showcased real-time gameplay on the Microsoft E3 Press Conference stage with real players experiencing it for the first time. Two crews were chosen to helm two different ships and battle each other.
Throughout the trailer the players were interacting with different parts of the ship, raising and lowering the sails, raising anchors, operating the cannons, and plugging holes in the hull in battle. There were also other activities the crews got into like exploring islands, looking for treasure, and getting drunk on grog.
Sea of Thieves is initially slated for a 2016 release for the PC and Xbox One.
