Games don't need single player campaigns for multiplayer only games when the latter can do just fine on its own. However, releasing a game without a single player campaign will only lead to a seemingly non-stop stream of people requesting one, as: Titanfall, Star Wars Battlefront, and now Overwatch have all discovered.
Cue Titanfall 2, which unlike its predecessor will have a solo campaign. Focusing on the bond that forms between the player character, Jack Cooper, and his Titan, BT. BT's former pilot died during a mission and the Titan decided to take manners into its own hands by finding a new pilot. It's not specifically stated but it's strongly hinted that a Titan's AI becoming somewhat sentient and seeking out a new pilot is something unheard of in this world. Meaning that while Cooper and BT fight their way through brain spider and enemy Titans, they may end up facing forces from within their own organization attempting to curb Titan sentience.
Titanfall 2 will be released October 28, 2016 on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
