During the International, an annual Dota 2 eSports tournament, Valve have announced a new game. It will be a collectible card game and will be called Artifact. The game takes place in the Dota 2 Universe and will feature gameplay on 3 boards, in comparison to the usual 1 in these types of games.
Event host Sean “Day9” Plott has offered first impressions of the game during a livestream of the event. "If you've played previous trading card games it has a lot of similarities in terms of having creatures and spells that you cast onto the board," Sean stated. "There's not just one board, there's three boards. You control five heroes, you deploy them among the different lanes. [...] You really feel like the commander who's allocating all of the various resources among this entire huge battlefield moving from lane to lane."
Artifact will be releasing in 2018, platforms are unannounced at the time of writing.
